1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Manuskrito (https://manuskrito.chordexbio.com) or any of its services, including the Manuskrito database, institutional repositories, and associated tools, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use Manuskrito. ChordexBio may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on this page, and continued use of Manuskrito constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

2. Scope and services

Manuskrito is a Philippine‑based manuscript and research discovery platform that provides: a centralized search and repository for academic manuscripts and innovation records; institutional repository services; integration with external discovery services such as CrossRef, DOAJ, Semantic Scholar, Unpaywall, PubMed; and partnerships with third‑party services such as Continuity by Plethoryt for royalty‑related access.

3. Eligibility and account creation

Users must be at least 18 years old or of the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction to create an account. You are responsible for providing accurate, current, and complete information. You may only use one account per individual unless explicitly authorized. You must not impersonate others or entities when using Manuskrito.

4. User and author responsibilities

You agree to comply with all applicable laws and institutional policies relating to intellectual property and academic integrity. You must submit only content to which you have the right to grant permissions and ensure that metadata is accurate. You must not submit content that is defamatory, unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful.

5. Institutional repositories and institutional responsibilities

Institutions retain ownership and control over their data and may define access and removal policies. Institutions are responsible for ensuring their collection of data complies with applicable privacy laws. Manuskrito may use metadata to enable cross‑institutional search unless explicitly restricted by institutional policy or opt‑out.

6. Content rights and licenses

Authors and submitters retain ownership of their intellectual property. By submitting content, you grant ChordexBio a non‑exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to store, index, display, search, and distribute the content. This license extends to Continuity by Plethoryt where necessary to support royalty‑related access management.

7. Data use, third‑party integrations, and Continuity by Plethoryt

Manuskrito may fetch or index metadata from external services like CrossRef and PubMed. We partner with Continuity by Plethoryt to manage submissions and royalty‑related access. Data shared is limited to what is necessary for those functions. Personal data handling is detailed in our Privacy Statement.

8. Prohibited uses

You must not use Manuskrito to violate laws, engage in plagiarism, distribute malware, or use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to extract data. You must not attempt to circumvent access controls or bypass paywalls. ChordexBio may suspend or terminate access for violations.

9. Availability and disclaimers

Manuskrito is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. ChordexBio does not guarantee uninterrupted or secure access. Users bear the risk of relying on search results or content accessed through the platform.

10. Liability and indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChordexBio shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ChordexBio from any claims arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the platform, or infringement of third‑party rights.

11. Modifications, suspension, and termination

ChordexBio may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Manuskrito without notice. We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms. Termination does not automatically remove content from archiving systems where permitted by law or policy.

12. Intellectual property and branding

The Manuskrito name, logo, and branding are the property of ChordexBio and may not be used without prior written permission. Third‑party trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Snippets may be used for personal reference or non-commercial research with proper attribution.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms of Use shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Disputes shall be resolved through negotiation, mediation, or, as a last resort, the courts of competent jurisdiction in the Philippines.

14. Miscellaneous

If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect. No failure to exercise a right constitutes a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Statement, and institutional agreements constitute the entire agreement regarding your use of Manuskrito.

16. Disclaimer of Accuracy and Continuity

We make no guarantees regarding 100% uptime or the continuous availability of the repository services.
